Guidelines for Safe and Secured Usage of Mobile Banking
Be safe from Scams / threats by following the below mentioned guidelines:
Dos:
Always review the mobile application's details such as, number of downloads, user reviews, comments and "ADDITIONAL INFORMATION" section before downloading the application from the recognised app/play store
Ensure "Offered by" in Google Play store has Bank Name as 'Tamilnad Mercantile Bank' before downloading 'TMB Mbank' app in your Android Devices
Ensure "Provider" in App Store has Bank Name as 'Tamilnad Mercantile Bank' before downloading 'TMB Mbank' app in your iOS Devices
Install and maintain updated antivirus solution on your mobile devices. Scan the suspected mobile device with antivirus solutions to detect and clean infections
Install Android updates and patches as and when available from Android vendors
Verify app permissions and grant only those permissions, which have relevant context for the app's purpose
Choose a complex PIN, so that it is non-guessable. Also change your login pin and transaction pin at regular Intervals
Review your account statements frequently to check for any unauthorized transactions
Report a lost or stolen phone immediately to your service provider and law enforcement authorities
Don’t forget to inform the bank of changes in your mobile number to ensure that SMS notifications are not sent to someone else
Be cautious while using Bluetooth in public places as someone may access your confidential data/information
Be careful about the websites you are browsing, if it does not look authentic, do not download anything from it
Be cautious while accepting offers such as caller tunes or dialer tunes or while opening/downloading email attachments from known or unknown sources
Donts:
Do not download and install applications from untrusted sources offered via unknown websites/ links on unscrupulous messages. Install apps downloaded only from the app/play store
Don't install 'TMB Mbank' app in JailBreak/Rooted Devices
Don't install any Remote Desktop Application in your Android/iOS devices to avoid risk of fraudster gaining access to your mobile Phones, which may lead to financial losses
Do not use personal details like name, Date of Birth, names and common patterns while choosing your PIN
Never give/share your PIN or confidential information over the phone or internet. Never share these details with anyone
Don’t store sensitive information such as credit card details, mobile banking PIN and user ID in your phone
Never reveal or write down PINs or retain any email or paper communication from the bank with regard to the PIN or password
Don’t click on links embedded in emails/social networking sites claiming to be from the bank or representing the bank
Don’t transfer funds without due validation of the recipient, as funds once transferred cannot be reversed
Don't use unsecured networks for the purpose of safeguarding the data
